In 2018 we worked together with PAP YAY (pronounced ‘pa-pee-yay’, which is how you say ‘paper’ in French) to create the art for their first toy, a modern 10-piece puzzle block made of paper.
They wanted to create a simple toy, without batteries or plastic, that was sustainably made and easy to recycle. Something simple to play with that also develops children’s creativity.
With the aim of making the art an important part of the project, we designed six different animals formed by ten cubes / pieces each. The blocks are made of simple geometrical shapes and the colours are bright and bold to capture the child’s imagination and help develop their cognitive skills. The shapes were designed to encourage children to create the animals themselves but also to inspire them to invent other combinations.
